Sinking into Summer

Ending each week with celebrations and gratitude makes the moments in the week so much more precious. I'm so grateful to be part of this community! Thank you to Ruth Ayres and all of the bloggers! Please join us here.

I feel like I was able to "let go" this week. Relax. Breathe. Be. I stopped worrying and stressing and pushing and I lived. I wrote...a little. I read more. I cleaned. I organized. I played with Bella. I lunched with friends. I talked to friends. I stopped comparing my progress with others. I stopped worrying about getting things done.  I missed blogging and I'm happy to be back today. Here are some big celebrations this week:

Anything GoesI got the opportunity to watch a good friend perform in an amazing production of this musical. To see her singing and dancing on stage, inspired me! Her talent is enviable and I enjoyed every moment of the show!!

Journaling. Although I didn't blog much last week, I did journal. I've been journaling about my week in a calendar form. It's fun and helps me remember details I may have forgotten. I'm going to keep this new practice going.

Organizing. My garage is much more organized now. It's not done, but it's much better. Lots of donated clothes and bags, lots of trash...it feels good. I also scoured Pinterest and found new ways to organize my markers and pens. Of course, that required a trip to IKEA. Look what I installed, all by myself...
This makes me happy every time I see it!

Speaking of organizing, I found the COOLEST stapler. It's two separate parts so you can staple anything! It's sold at Best Buy, online at Home Depot or Amazon. It's called the Quirky Align Stapler. Here it is...

Auntie's Day. Last Sunday was Auntie's Day. This week Jack & Jillian called me a couple of times. As they grow older, I love talking to them and listening to their stories...hearing about camp and their vacation. Watching them grow up is such a gift and so much fun! I'll be seeing them soon, I can't wait!
They sent me this picture after our phone call.
Thank you to Melanie Notkin, the creator of Savvy Auntie.

What are you celebrating today?!?!

  1. Michelle,
I love this way of journalling. I may have to try it! I want some of those colored pens to use! Glad you are getting some down time and auntie time before summer ends.

  6. Michelle, what a great post full of celebration! I love that you were able to let go and just be this week. I was really inspired by your journaling. I love the new organization you have for pens and markers. The best part is that you did it yourself. That must make it even more fun to look at. Thanks also for sharing about that stapler. I will have to order one for school. Have a wonderful week!

  7. I love your journaling style! I need to do that. And like you said in the first paragraph, I just need to let go of certain things and do things that will make me happy and therefore will allow me to live the good life.

  8. It's the journal for me too! Thanks for sharing snippets of this with us. As I start to journal, I need to remember that not everyday has to be a novel. As always, I need to be more forgiving of myself and just write. Thanks for the reminder. (And I'm on a mission to find that stapler...) I'm so glad you had a great week!

  9. Love your journal and all of the color you bring to it. It just makes me happy looking at it. There is something about organizing that calms me down. It's a different kind of thinking and the results seem cleansing. I also think drawing has that effect on me. Maybe it's a spatial thing. Working a different part of the brain.

  10. Michelle,
I love the journal and all the color. It made me happy just looking at it. Keep taking that time to slow down and celebrate who you are. It's an important journey and look at all the wonderful things you did as you relaxed. :) I think I'm going to go buy some colorful markers tomorrow. A journal like yours may be what I need to try next.

  11. You have much to celebrate this week, Michelle: organization and fun times as auntie. Your trip to Ikea gave you another accomplishment of the week: an organized space. You inspired me to work harder to make my office space a fine example of organization.
