Today is my 13th slice for the
March Slice of Life Challenge
My friend Jessica is blogging with her students and she wrote this post about things they didn't know about her. It inspired this post of mine:
10. I attended only one year of public school (kindergarten)...Catholic school for the rest (even college and graduate school).
9. I was an exchange student in high school...I lived in Valencia, Spain for a summer.
8. I was twenty years old when I first ate a cheeseburger (prior to that all my burgers were cheese-free)!
7. I've written in notebooks since the 80s. I have every notebook and I am on #62.
6. There are at least five people in my family with the name Mary: Mary, Mary Ann, Mary Jo, Mary Lou, and Mary Jane. (The first 3 Marys are sisters!)
5. I took a writing class in college and was writing partners with Amy Poehler (from Parks & Rec). She was so kind and funny and smart!
4. My all time favorites include: Anne of Green Gables (kids book), Gift from the Sea (grown-up book), Sitting on the Dock of the Bay (song), Princess Bride (movie), yellow (color).
3. I've always dreamed of living on a beach in a cottage and being a writer.
2. I despise the taste of cinnamon, but I love the smell!
1. My obsessions include pens, notebooks, and peppermint.
This list was fun to make. What are some things I don't know about you?!?!
What a great list. You are so lucky to have all of those notebooks. I would love to have notebooks which document my thoughts for so many years. What a treasure for you and your family for the future. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your list - and I love the ideal Might just do this myself!
ReplyDeleteVery unique opportunity to be writing partners with Amy Poehler! This list is the exact way our library media specialist introduced our visiting poet the other day!!
ReplyDeleteI love this list slice! Amy Poehler??? How exciting! I think the most exciting unknown thing about me is that my great-great-great grandma was a lady in waiting to Queen Victoria. That practically makes me royalty, right???
ReplyDeleteJennifer
Great idea! Too bad I don't have any famous writing partners. Your names gave me an idea: there were five Jaanas in my fourth grade class. All the other grades I was the only one.
ReplyDeleteAnne of GG & Gifts from the Sea are two of my favorites as well - have no idea how many times I've read them. My fun fact... I used to have a pottery business & sold my wheel thrown pottery in SW VA.
ReplyDeleteI love your list and will probably steal the idea for a future slice. One morning recently our Morning Meeting question was similar I asked for a surprising fact about each student- many surprises there!

ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent list! And Amy Poehler!?!?!?! I am so jealous!!! I may have my kids make their own surprising lists.
ReplyDeleteSitting on the Dock of the Bay. I knew I Liked You! :) Great list! I tucked this idea way for later when I need inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list. This is something I might do before the month is over since I am quickly running out of ideas. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great, varied list! Loved the Anne books, Gift of the Sea and Princess Bride (have you read "As You Wish" by Cary Elwes?) I think I'll follow your lead and try this this month. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI love your number 3. I want it to be mine too!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Michelle. You & me, number 3! Like Aileen above, it's the best dream. I do get to go every year . . . I love the idea of the list, maybe I'll try it, & show to the students, too.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! This list can easily turn into other slice ideas. How sad it this - I don't even know who Amy Poehler is! But many people were excited for you! I live such a sheltered life! Think I might have to borrow this idea real soon!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea and I really like that your list is in descending order. Number 3 is may fave! I may have to try this list too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool list! I also want to live in a cottage on the beach. Maybe we could be neighbors someday! You wrote with Amy Poehler? How cool! (I read her book. Does that count? LOL) Cinnamon, huh? My favorite spice! Thanks for sharing your fun list!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for a slice, and I'm so excited to learn new things about you! I just finished Yes, Please!, so I'm amazed that you were writing partners with Amy Poehler! I'm also amazed at the number of notebooks you've filled. Wow!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! And what a great idea to make a list! I have to see if I can come up with 10 things.
