Celebrating Singing, Notebooks, and Shoes!
Thank you Ruth for inspiring me to always look for the celebrations in life!
Join us and share your celebrations!
It's been a long week. How does time work? Weeks with three-day weekends seem to always feel longer. Can anyone explain that to me? In this long week, I've been enjoying working with students. We've begun our process of reflecting on ourselves and our writing! That's always fun. In this process, I collected my notebooks from this year, so I could reflect along with them and discovered that I couldn't find a notebook (or maybe 2 notebooks...turns out it was only 1 notebook and I need to update my count). What startled me is that I couldn't even visualize what this notebook looked like! I celebrate my students! They were able to give me details that they remembered, "It was a big notebook." "I think it was white." "The one from the beginning of the year had spirals." "It said YOU MATTER on the title page." They remembered so many details! I went home and found it sitting next to my bookcase of notebooks. YAY! 6th graders! Thank you for being my memory for me!!
I celebrate the slowing down of life. My evaluation is complete. My graduate class is done. There are twelve days of school left. In the midst of the crazy chaos, life really is slowing down. I had time to bring Bella to the vet this week...
I celebrate new shoes. Funky. Colorful. Comfortable!
I celebrate finding a hilarious and fun new app called Dubsmash. I heard about it on the Ellen Degeneres show. Singer Josh Groban talked about it. I'm hooked! As I posted on Instagram this week, I am finally able to live my life long dream of being a singer! Here's some of my performances. Please enjoy!
It is so fun to play with new apps! I'm going to have to look for that one. I love the fact that we all can rely on the memories of kids when it matters. So great that they were able to help you find the notebook you were missing. I am impressed that there is more than one notebook in a year. I just never seem to get my routine going to keep up with writing notebook entries. Maybe participating again in Teachers Write will finally get me going with this.
ReplyDeleteLove that: you found your notebook, that you have those fun new shoes, that Bella is so cute, and that you are finally a singer! I saw you on FB, but now more! Thanks for giving me smiles all the way through, Andrea!
ReplyDeleteLove your funky shoes and that you had time to take Bella to the vet. Sometimes just simple little things like that are worthy of the most celebration. :)
ReplyDeleteOH I love Dubsmash. I can't wait to share this with my daughter. And the shoes so fun. Happy reflecting. This is when all the hard work during the year pays off!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the picture of those shoes, I KNEW they would show up today! So fun. My sister cannot sing worth a lick. I think I need to show her that app. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, this was such a fun post because you are sharing such wonderful happenings with us. Love the shoes, your inspirational quote, Bella's photo, and most of all the new app. Awesome fun!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your posts this week using Dubsmash. So fun! Joyful shoes, sweet pic of Bella, a found notebook, and life slowing down - all reasons to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up! Those shoes. That singing! I can't wait to spend some fun time with you!
ReplyDeleteMe too, Margaret!!! I can't wait!!
DeleteI love that your students were able to help you recall what your notebook looked like. My students would often be able to help me find where I misplaced things (which happened A LOT!). Your new shoes are awesome!! Have a great week!
