Someday...
Thank you to Stacey, Betsy, Dana, Tara, Beth, Anna, Kathleen & Deb for this amazing platform to write and share writing! What a wonderful community you've created! I'm honored to be part of it. Join us at Two Writing Teachers.
Do you have dreams? Kids are good at dreaming. I find many adults struggle with it. Speaking for myself, I get so caught up in the everyday drudgery of life, that dreams get nudged aside until they disappear.
It's important to have dreams. I've been writing about my dreams in my notebook and so I thought I'd share my dreams here...
1. Writing a book.
While I'd love to get a book published, my dream is to write a book...to complete the act of writing it. I've started on this dream and it's hard and challenging and exciting and amazing.
2. Living at the beach.
I love the water, the waves, the ocean smell, the seafood, the sand...all of it! The Outer Banks is my favorite place in the world and I'd love to live there.
3. Writing Retreats.
I want to get people together and write. I want to create positive and powerful experiences for everyone who wants to write. I want the retreats to be invigorating and inspiring and fun. I want to do this on weekends and in the summer.
I have more dreams, but sharing these dreams is scary. Makes me vulnerable. I find it interesting that this is one of the posts where I'm finding it the hardest to press the PUBLISH button. I wonder why that is...
What do you dream about?
Thank you for sharing your dreams! Seems we have a lot in common--we frequent Duck in the OBX (but not full time, wouldn't that be nice?!) and I also want to get published. Soon I hope! Have you thought about participating in Camp NaNoWriMo? It's in April and a GREAT way to get your first book out. I did it last year and completed my first chapter book (for kids). As for me, I dream of being calm and doing more yoga. Maybe meditating on a daily basis would keep me calm in the face of my two quarreling boys?? Thanks for getting me thinking on this topic. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am signing up for Camp. Looking forward to it! :)
DeleteThis is one of your best posts. I'm super glad you pressed publish. What beautiful images you shared. Those rocking chairs and your toes are my favorites. Push through to complete the book. I feel so good that I did that as well. Now to think about my dreams.
ReplyDelete"I get so caught up in the everyday drudgery of life, that dreams get nudged aside until they disappear." That line reminded me of a time when I hit a "low" in my life, realizing I was dream-less and couldn't envision a future for myself beyond a weekend job and dirty dishes. That memory made me so glad you published this post, because you are not in that low place of no-dreams!
ReplyDeleteI think your dreams are so YOU and I have faith you will realize all of them.
ReplyDeleteYou have beautiful dreams! Yes, I wish you patience and passion as you complete your book. I hope you have a chance to live and write by the ocean. Thank you for inspiring me.
ReplyDeleteI would buy that book. :) I dream about farms. I would live on one. This is simply inspirational. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDreams are what keep us sane in this day-to-day life. I think ALL of your dreams are attainable. The first step is to put them out there and share them, which you did here. You go, girl!

I think some of your dreams are mine, Michelle. When I go to the beach each summer, I wonder often how it would be to live there all the time. A book you might like: The Outermost House by Henry Beston. Thanks for sharing your dreams. I hope that they all come true!
ReplyDeleteSome of our dreams overlap, Michelle. I suppose that's why we're friends.
ReplyDeleteI, too, dream of living by the sea one day. I think I'd be so much more inspired to write a novel if I had a gorgeous view and salt air to breathe-in.
Love this post! I'm supposed to writing, but instead I'm meandering. I just can't get around to all the blogs I want to read this month. Your post is inspiring me to dream. My favorite pic - the colorful rocking chairs!
ReplyDeletesuch a lovely post. I want to write one now, too, thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to OBX, but really want to go this summer. So funny that I read your post today afer starting a Pinterest board about OBX!
Do you know of any writing retreats? I'd love to go to one, and I have my two writing friends at school who would probably go, too!
The images on this post are beautiful. Thanks for sharing your dreams with us!
This is inspirational. I think it is so scary to share our dreams because it makes us feel vulnerable. I love the dream of writing a book...I share that one. Not necessarily to be published but just to have accomplished the act. Don't let those dreams slide off to the side. Keep them front and center!

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you pressed publish! I wonder what kind of book you want to write. Doesn't matter, I'd buy it anyway. The beach, yes please! And a writing retreat, it scares me but I'd do it.
ReplyDeleteAnything is possible. Dreams are powerful, especially when you take steps to make them come true. I believe some of your dreams will become reality sooner than you think. Keep writing, dreaming, planning, changing, organizing. Cheering to you!
ReplyDeleteI always think that once I say it out loud, then I HAVE to do it. So I understand why it is scary to share your dreams in a public way. But I loved reading your dreams - inspiring!! So I say, keep dreaming and sharing them, too!!

ReplyDeleteI would come to your writing retreat. I think you would definitely create a warm, inviting place for others.

ReplyDeleteSign me up for your writing camp! I loved to read about your dreams and enjoyed the photos as well! I'm so glad you pushed PUBLISH. Sometimes that public statement alone is the nudge you need to take another step along the path to those dreams. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou said it perfectly... that sometimes adults get going with the day to day guck of life and then dreams can be pushed away. I am happy you shared your dreams with us. I truly think that you can do each and every single one of these!!! I would have to say that right now my dreams are all over the place. I want to feel comfortable financially (new house new baby....things are tight!), I want to enjoy more time exploring my passions of photography and art, and I too would LOVE to write a book one day. It's a dream of mine to be a children's author. Happy Dreaming!
ReplyDeleteSomeday I'll be buying your book...and you can sign it for me. A vacation is not a vacation without the beach. Hold on to your dreams!
