My Lens
In sitting down to write my slice today, I discovered this poem. I wrote it in the beginning of July. I don't remember why I wrote it or why I didn't post it, but here it is...
We see the world
through our lens.
And that lens-
the lens we see
our entire world
through-
is tiny
and only shows
our
perspective.
I wonder
how my lens
would change
if
I was
different?
If I was
older or younger,
a different race,
a different religion,
lived in another place...
How would
my world
look through the
eyes of
someone else?
Take a moment.
Wonder.
Think.
Everyday I
work to
widen my lens.

THANKS for helping me "widen my lens"!
Looking through others eyes and lenses would help us as individuals and the world in general.
ReplyDeleteI love this Michelle. I was thinking about this very thing- perspective/lens yesterday during our opening faculty meeting.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michelle. It is so important to consider different perspectives as we navigate our community and world.
ReplyDeleteThis simple poem holds such huge ideas and an important reminder as I go back to work.
ReplyDelete"Every day I work to widen my lens." Such truth and mindfulness. I hope we are all working on that. Great slice, friend!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And so timely! I will be thinking about this as the new school begins. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found that poem today. I am working to widen my lens too and to extend a helping hand whenever I am able. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so important to remember that we are seeing the world only through one small lens and to embrace opportunities to widen it. Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem!
ReplyDeleteI have wonderings like this too, Michelle. I think this is why we're friends.
