Here I am
Here it is...My blog about teaching. My experiences. My successes. My struggles. What do I have to say that's original and different? I'm not sure, but during a chat on twitter I was given some valuable advice about writing and I'm following it. Here are some of the tweets:
To honor the advice I received I thought, This is it! This is the time. Now's the time to start blogging professionally. Well, that is to say, I'm going to blog about my profession. I've been struggling with the idea of writing yet another blog. I blog with my students and for my students and that's important, but I need a place to reflect on my practice and write for ME. You have a story to tell that no one can tell but you. Now is the time to write that story. #nctechat

I am writing about many things at once all of the time. That's why I keep a notebook… and it's a mess. #nctechat

@Mhaseltine @pennykittle My fears regarding writing threaten to paralyze me. Have to ignore them. So hard. #nctechat

@Mhaseltine Most of the chaos never turns into anything in my notebook. Once in awhile… something good. #nctechat

I am a teacher.
I always love hearing where the inspiration for blog posts comes from. And I love having a bit of chaos in my life - out of the swirl comes the creative voice.
ReplyDeleteBlog on teacher!
Hooray for you! And yay for us who get to learn about your teaching life.
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful! Congrats on your new endeavor and good luck!! Just write!
ReplyDeleteNice. I followed this conversation the other night. Glad it motivated you to start this blog.
ReplyDeleteYour last thought, about paralyzing fear stopping you from writing, is exactly what blogging is about for me. I have learned, over the last few years, so much from meeting that fear head-on, and writing anyway. It has improved my ability to help reluctant writers ten-fold.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to TWT. I know what you mean about being paralyzed about writing, but what a pleasure it is when you write and get/give comments. The first post I kept thinking, "will anyone read it, will they comment, will they care what I write about". This is a caring community and I know that you will be a great addition.
ReplyDeleteI started blogging this summer and what a difference it has made. The support and encouragement you will get here is beyond measure! Good luck and welcome!
ReplyDeleteWelcome! I look forward to reading your story!
ReplyDeleteYes, welcome!! I enjoyed your inspirational tweets. I look forward to reading your reflections on teaching!
ReplyDeleteYou will be so glad you have started. I love my blogging/writing community life.It is like no other...and has made me a better teacher! Welcome and congrats!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you stepped into the professional blogging forum. Good for you! I know you did the SOLSC with your students last year. I'm glad you're going to do it yourself, on your own blog, year-round! Welcome!
ReplyDeleteWow Michelle! As your "non writing" friend, I'm more than impressed!
ReplyDeleteYou are so much more than a teacher. You are a daughter. You are a sister. You are an aunt. You are a friend. You are an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to reading your story.
