Ahhh...

Each week on Saturday
bloggers celebrate at Ruth Ayres Writes
Won't you join us?

Last week I celebrated the meandering days of summer...and then lived one of the busiest weeks of the year! Camp was amazing... better than I expected! You can read my posts from this week right here on my blog. We learned and laughed and stretched ourselves and shared our experiences.

I'd been feeling a bit jealous about all of the amazing conferences around the country that I wanted to attend, but couldn't...All Write, Boothbay, Choice Literacy, Teachers College...this week I realized how lucky I am! Here in my very own county, we have so many opportunities! Our technology conference ActivLoudoun, where I got to present and see awesome presenters like Steven Anderson! I even won a Google Chromebook at that conference too. And then there's camp. We planned and presented it, but as always, I feel like I learned as much as those who attended. I'm leaving this experience exhausted but exhilarated!

I celebrate kinetic sand! What fun these table sand boxes added to our week of camp!

I celebrate Holly Mueller and her new Thursday link-up Spiritual Journey ThursdayIt's something that I needed and I feel like it's an answer to prayer. Please join us there next week!

I celebrate rainbows appearing just when I needed to see one...

I celebrate scrumptious s'mores cupcakes! Chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker crust...Oh my!

I celebrate trips to the dog park too. Bella made some new friends and tired herself out!

I celebrate impending pool time with lots of fun reading this weekend! Relaxing and just being sounds heavenly. Wishing you a wonderful summer weekend!

  1. Sounds like you had a great week. I hadn't heard about Holly's Spiritual Journey posts, but I'm definitely going to check it out next week. And I really want one of those cupcakes! YUM! Happy pool time!

  2. That cupcake looks amazing! It sounds like you had a great week of camp. I can definitely relate to the feeling jealous of people at the conferences around the country. I had plans to attend a couple things, but had to cancel them and really wish I hadn't. It sounds like your local conference was a good one. Congratulations on winning a Chromebook! Have a great week!

  5. What a fantastic week! I want to play in the kinetic sand, that looks great! I am missed your summer camp posts so I'll go back and read them now. Writing is hard for me and Holly's challenge is one I'll have to try. I think it would be another way for me to challenge myself! Have a great week and enjoy summer!

  6. Thank you Michelle because today you provided me with a rich soul feast. I gobbled up this post and gulped all you shared about camp. I watched the videos and viewed the slides. Now I am deeply satisfied by all the beauty you brought to my life this morning. God used you to show me His beauty. Blessings.

  11. Your cupcake looks amazing!

I will have to look back at your other posts about the conference you presented at. I wasn't on last week, so I missed it.

I may have to pick your brain- the school I'm moving to has more technology than I've had in the past and all the kids will have a google chrome book. I'm so excited, but I have a lot to learn.

Hope you have some relaxing pool days.

  12. Lots to celebrate here, but I'm just going to pause and breathe in the cold air of Holly's picture of snow for her new roundup/linkin. It's just way too hot for me...

Here I Am

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. I've been thinking for the past couple of days about this post...but I can't think of anything to write. Frozen in my failure, I want to quit, but I push through and show up here...even though it seems pointless. Who wants to read a blog post about nothing?  I begin to panic a bit...Have I "lost it"? My passion for blogging? My ability to blog? Why can't I think of something clever? What do I have to say that anyone will want to read? (By the way, I'd have all of these answers if it was you asking the questions!) Should I quit? Give up? Accept defeat? NO.  Instead, I show up.  Instead, I remember the words I said yesterday to my seventh-graders,  "Show up. It gets easier." Instead, I write and show grace to myself. Instead, I remember that blogging is a muscle that I haven't stretched in a while and I need to warm up, I need to take some deep breaths. Here I am. Showing up to the page. I'...

Someday...

Thank you to Stacey, Betsy, Dana, Tara, Beth, Anna, Kathleen & Deb for this amazing platform to write and share writing! What a wonderful community you've created! I'm honored to be part of it. Join us at Two Writing Teachers . Do you have dreams? Kids are good at dreaming. I find many adults struggle with it. Speaking for myself, I get so caught up in the everyday drudgery of life, that dreams get nudged aside until they disappear.  It's important to have dreams. I've been writing about my dreams in my notebook and so I thought I'd share my dreams here... 1. Writing a book.  While I'd love to get a book published, my dream is to write a book...to complete the act of writing it.  I've started on this dream and it's hard and challenging and exciting and amazing.  2. Living at the beach.    I love the water, the waves, the ocean smell, the seafood, the sand...all of it! The Outer Banks is my favorite place in the...

Chasing My Dream

I'm doing it. I'm chasing my dream. I've always wanted to run writing retreats and workshops for people, but I've always been too scared to do anything about it...until now. I don't know what's changed...maybe I've changed. I'm not allowing the fear to stop me anymore. I've started Selah Writing Retreats.  The past couple of weeks I've been getting the business end in order. I thought I would hate that...I don't. It's scary, but I am surprising myself with how efficient I am. Yesterday I went to a bank to set up a bank account. The woman I met with was kind and helpful and so enthusiastic about my dream. My website is set up. I've done lots of work on it. I hope you stop by and let me know what you think. It's  selahwritingretreats.com . Balancing creative with business has been challenging but fun. Creating the website, getting a federal tax id, making business cards, planning dates... My favorite voxer group is called Butt Ki...
