I'm so grateful to Holly for the inspiration and opportunity to write about my spiritual journey. Please stop by her blog and share your own spiritual journey.
Patience.
Hmmmm...
I practice patience.
Persistant patience.
God's plan in God's time
But...
Time passes and I'm frustrated...
Time passes and I'm frustrated...
not getting what I want,
when I want it in a
world of instant gratification
Does God hear me?
I practice patience.
Persistant patience.
I want it now!
Why? Why not?
She has it. He has it.
Don't I deserve it?
I'm a good person.
Don't I deserve it?
I'm a good person.
The desire is in my heart,
but nothing ever seems to change.
Is God really listening?
I practice patience.
Persistant patience.
OK, fine.
Maybe it's not for me.
Who needs it?
Forget it!
Forget it!
I don't even really want it...
Do I?
I practice patience.
Persistant patience.
Thank you.
My life is full. I'm grateful...
grateful for my faith
grateful for my health
grateful for my home
grateful for my family
grateful for my friends
grateful for my friends
grateful for my blessings
so numerous.
I practice patience.
Persistant patience.
Look!
Look!
Look!
Change is coming...
it's more...
so much
so much
more than I expected
more than I dreamed!
God's plan in God's time.
I practice patience.
Persistant patience.
Amen.
Amen.
We chose the same quote. The repetition of your poem is a like a meditation, a mantra. Patience will come. God's spirit lives in patience.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at a couple lines because they mirrored some of my exact thoughts at times:

Ha. I love that. Be still and know that I am God is my favorite verse, and I love that song by Steven Curtis Chapman. It's going to be running through my head all day today. :-) And I agree with Margaret - the repetition in your poem is like a meditation/mantra. Beautiful.
I thoroughly enjoyed this - it felt like I was reading a modeern day psalm, where I wrestle with God and trust in his promise, believing that my boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places. Even when sometimes they feel as if those lines need to be expanded, or shrunken. Thanks for sharing this Michele!
DeleteI always make it a point to not read anyone's posts before I post mine, and I am always amazed how thoughts seem to have a common thread. I wrote about this same verse today. Persistent patience - isn't that an oxymoron? :) Have a great Thursday!
ReplyDeleteOk, let me rephrase that - Steven Curtis Chapman and I are on the same wavelength!
