Exploring the Word TURN in My Spiritual Journey
Thank you to Holly for this amazing opportunity to explore my Spiritual Journey every week! I love the opportunity to try on each other's OLWs. This week I've been contemplating Leigh Anne's word TURN.

TURN. I looked up the definition. It means to move or to change. TURN is one of those words that means so many different things and I think that's why I love it so much. Ever since Leigh Ann picked it, I've noticed it popping up.
I heard the President start the State of the Union with it, "...tonight, we TURN the page." It's a word I never paid attention to and now I think about it a lot.
"TURN to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other." Isaiah 45:22
TURNing toward is opening up and asking for help.
My favorite meaning of the word TURN is TURNing it over to God. Here's a great verse that addresses that! "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
I struggle with TURNing things over to God. I grasp so tightly and try to control everything until I can't...until I fail...until I TURN to God and let Him take over. TURNing it over to God is an act of faith. I love thinking about this and remembering this and re-focusing on this course in the middle of such a busy week! Thank you Leigh Anne for picking such a terrific word!
It IS a great word, TURN. The fact that God asks us to TURN everything over to Him is such a gift. I wonder why it is SO hard. When we do, He takes care of everything so beautifully, and yet, we resist again and again and fill our hearts with anxiety. We definitely need to TURN our hearts over to Him so he can fill them with peace.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I think that our failing is a stepping stone to success if we are reflective and take action. As you said,"until I turn to God and let Him take over." How many times do I need to realize that God is the director of my life and not me.
ReplyDeleteTurning does require faith, trust that God's got our backs. We can be more confident moving forward when we know He's there.

ReplyDeleteMichelle, I can so identify with your struggles! At times it feels like I need to first fail before I will turn things over to God. I wonder where this stubbornness comes from...??? But here we are, encouraging each other to keep turning to Him! Great community!
ReplyDeleteI so agree that turning things over to Him is so hard. That darn control thing! I love this perspective of my word. Thank you for sharing in my word this week and I apologize for taking so long to read all of the posts!
