Happy Last Week of School!
Happy Last Week of School!
I am struggling with the "keeping the routine" part because my school has so many special events during the last days of school. For example, yesterday a whole-school 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. field trip to Mount Vernon. Fun, but absolutely exhausting which is why, at 6:30 a.m., I am still in bed! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteLet's definitely get together after school is out! I have a workshop on the 18, 19, and 20, but will be free the next week.
I'm actually enjoying my last few days with my students. Emotions are running high as our school's oldest students are the second graders--so they have a new school to think about. But I had these kids for two years and we are family. I've watched other teachers taking personal days and thought...not me. I will miss them.
ReplyDeleteWe had a wonderful last week, but I was tired by Friday for sure, Michelle. It is important to me to say the goodbyes as beautifully as I (and the students) can. Thanks for the advice. Now I need a pat on the back for every evaluation I finish! Lots of words! Best wishes to you!
ReplyDeleteI love this approach! I think laughter is definitely the key to the last week of school.
ReplyDeleteLaughter is the best medicine, Michelle. Thanks for the morning humor. Enjoy your last days.
ReplyDeleteI needed this weeks ago when I was screaming (in my head) at administrators about moving my classroom by myself! When do you finally finish?
ReplyDeleteThis year I did not make an agenda for the last week of school. I asked the students to plan the last few days.I was ready for all sorts of strange things, but they came up with a very reasonable plan similar to what I would have done: share the learning, clean and organize, play, give compliments, celebrate. The last two days have been calm. Let's see what the next two will bring.
ReplyDeleteThese videos are hilarious! I love all of your suggestions, especially the one about routines. That really helped all of us (myself and my students) in our final days. Your time will be here soon!
ReplyDeleteLess than two weeks from now we'll be at Highlights! Morning yoga. Someone else cooking meals for us. Nature walks. AND TIME TO WRITE.
ReplyDeleteYour writing paradise awaits. Soon!
I'm watching this "Big Bang" clip. It made me laugh since I remember seeing on TV. That said, try this for a laugh: http://comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com/.
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud!! love Dennis Quaid talking in third person! My last day was last week and it was that emotional whirlwind. Hold on summer is around the bend and keep laughing!
ReplyDeleteI'm still two fill weeks away...but I SO GET THE EXCITEMENT AND ENERGY. My husband likes to say that the two worst months to be in a relationship with a teacher are June and September! LOVE THE CLIPS!
ReplyDeleteOh Michelle, thank you.
