Painting and Writing and Long Days of Summer!

Thank you to Ruth Ayres for the opportunity to focus on celebrations every week!


Saturday. The end of a busy week. I presented to teachers for two and a half days this week. Working with teachers is something that inspires me and brings me such joy and energy...I'm grateful that I'm provided with these opportunities. I celebrate hard working teachers who constantly look for ways to improve themselves. 


It's been a busy summer with high expectations to get lots done! I've been writing. I haven't been...oh, I could make quite the list. I'll keep my eyes on what's getting done while making some changes in my schedule to try some new things. I celebrate trying new things, like catching up on my Playing Class in Sketchbook Skool. Danny Gregory is an amazing artist and author who teaches these cool online classes. The class I'm taking is about playing with art and trying new things. I started catching up on my lessons yesterday. Here's what I've created so far...

There's something about creating something...I get to become a student again. I feel what it's like to learn something new and to be pushed out of my comfort zone. Thank you to my friend, Lee Ann, for telling me about his classes. I highly recommend trying something new!

 Sunday night, July 17th at 8pm EST, I'm co-moderating a Twitter chat for NCTE. We will be discussing NCTE's beliefs about writing. You can read about those here. I hope you will join us!

    I hope I can join the Twitter chat. Love your cute little images. I can imagine collaging these on a journal. And I know you must be glowing with pride over all the teachers you have blogging. So many great things happening.

    Your work is so exciting! I really like the idea of working on artwork. Have you heard of paint night? I want to try it with some friends. You sign up to take painting lessons at a local bar or restaurant of your choice hosting the event. It looks like fun.     As one of those teachers who participated in your blog workshop this week, I can't thank you enough. You've reinvigorated my writing life! If it weren't my parents' 40th anniversary, my #celebratelu would have been about that!

    Michelle, I also appreciate any opportunity to experience learning as well and agree with the power of creating something. I think that is why I enjoy scrapbooking/documenting life, especially with experimenting and playing based on inspiration from others. I am glad that you had a great week and good luck with the Twitter chat.

    I'll miss the Twitter chat, but look forward to reading the archives. What a busy summer you're having! So glad you're finding time to create art in your Playing Class. Just the title of the class is fun. I love your sketches! Wonder if his classes would work for an art phobic person like me.

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. I've been thinking for the past couple of days about this post...but I can't think of anything to write. Someday...

Speaking for myself, I get so caught up in the everyday drudgery of life, that dreams get nudged aside until they disappear.  It's important to have dreams. Chasing My Dream

I'm doing it. I'm chasing my dream. I've always wanted to run writing retreats and workshops for people, but I've always been too scared to do anything about it...until now. I don't know what's changed...maybe I've changed. I'm not allowing the fear to stop me anymore. I've started Selah Writing Retreats.  The past couple of weeks I've been getting the business end in order. I thought I would hate that...I don't. It's scary, but I am surprising myself with how efficient I am. Yesterday I went to a bank to set up a bank account. The woman I met with was kind and helpful and so enthusiastic about my dream.
