Dreams Come True

I love seeing people make their dreams come true. My friend Chrissy made her dream come true. She is an amazing teacher and a wonderful mother. Chrissy, like so many of us, dreamt of writing a book. She had the story, inspired by her own experiences as a mom. She lived the words written by Toni Morrison, "If there's a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it." Chrissy wrote it. She never gave up on it and it was released on August 29th.

The Early Bird is a beautiful picture book of a mother's love. It's about a child's love for his mother. There are lovely pictures and beautiful text. Inspired by her own son, Chrissy writes a sweet story about a baby bird who arrives early because he just can't wait another moment to meet his mom.

Knowing Chrissy and watching her work through this process has been inspiring! Last week we had a meeting and we all brought our copies of the book. (Unfortunately, I was sick and had to miss it, but look at the picture.) Our friends set up the space to look like an author signing. Just look at that smile! 
 

Chrissy reminds me that dreams come true. She lives with such joy and love it makes me ecstatic to celebrate this accomplishment. If you are looking for a cute picture book, please get this book! If you want to support someone's dream, please get this book. The Early Bird by Christine Gates

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. I've been thinking for the past couple of days about this post...but I can't think of anything to write. Speaking for myself, I get so caught up in the everyday drudgery of life, that dreams get nudged aside until they disappear.  It's important to have dreams. I've been writing about my dreams in my notebook and so I thought I'd share my dreams here... 1. Writing a book.  While I'd love to get a book published, my dream is to write a book...to complete the act of writing it.  I've started on this dream and it's hard and challenging and exciting and amazing.  2. Chasing My Dream

I'm doing it. I'm chasing my dream. I've always wanted to run writing retreats and workshops for people, but I've always been too scared to do anything about it...until now. I don't know what's changed...maybe I've changed. I'm not allowing the fear to stop me anymore. I've started Selah Writing Retreats.  The past couple of weeks I've been getting the business end in order. I thought I would hate that...I don't. It's scary, but I am surprising myself with how efficient I am. Yesterday I went to a bank to set up a bank account. The woman I met with was kind and helpful and so enthusiastic about my dream.
