Show Up

I haven't been here for awhile. 
I've missed this space. 
Taking a step away gives a new perspective.
I'm back.

Showing up is necessary for me. When I show up, I feel accomplished and proud. Here I am. Today is a celebration post. There is much to celebrate. My students. My writers. They have started blogging and they are already flying! Expressing themselves. Mining notebook pages to find something to post and share with the world. They are writers...entering writing contests and signing up for writing workshops.
  

I watch them show up every single day. They write. They read. They work. Being a student is hard and they show up smiling and giving it their all. I celebrate the students who sit in my classroom and take risks...the students who demonstrate their creativity in their notebooks and blogs...the students who recommend books to each other.

    Oh Michelle..this was terrific. Showing up in EVERYTHING. That is something my husband taught me. It took me a long time to see it, know it..understand how important it is. On so many levels..just show up. great post.

    Showing up has so many different versions and so many different objectives such as showing up for ourselves and showing up for others. Each one is important, but sometimes we have to take a step back to understand that. Glad you showed up today!

    I totally understand taking a step back. I'm doing the same. I'm reading posts. I may post today, but I'm realizing that maybe there are times when we just need rest.

    Short and sweet, "Show Up!" It is important, and lasting things happen that surprise when one does show up. Wonderful that you are teaching that to your students, Michelle. I love seeing that "busy" picture of them.

    Michelle, it is good to read your post here. I love how your students are "mining" for little nuggets to grow into their own pieces (all under your tutelage)! I celebrate your celebrations.

Here I Am

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. I've been thinking for the past couple of days about this post...but I can't think of anything to write. Frozen in my failure, I want to quit, but I push through and show up here...even though it seems pointless. Who wants to read a blog post about nothing?  I begin to panic a bit...Have I "lost it"? Someday...

Chasing My Dream

I'm doing it. I'm chasing my dream. I've always wanted to run writing retreats and workshops for people, but I've always been too scared to do anything about it...until now. I don't know what's changed...maybe I've changed. I'm not allowing the fear to stop me anymore. I've started Selah Writing Retreats.  The past couple of weeks I've been getting the business end in order. I thought I would hate that...I don't. It's scary, but I am surprising myself with how efficient I am. Yesterday I went to a bank to set up a bank account. The woman I met with was kind and helpful and so enthusiastic about my dream.
