Celebrating Notebook Writers

We've launched notebooks. We write in our notebooks every day.

I collected notebooks for a first check. Spending time in these pages inspired me.

I get to know my sixth-graders as writers and I get to know their interests and passions. Notebook writing and reading their writing is certainly something to celebrate today!
The rest of this post will be pages from their notebooks. They've given me permission to share. You are in for a treat! Enjoy...

Thank you to Ruth Ayres for providing this space for sharing our celebrations.

  1. Loved the opportunity to glimpse into these notebooks. Love the sticky note comments, too.

  2. I loved reading through these notebook entries. Such a diverse and interesting group of kids. I've noticed that my 6th graders seem to have one foot in the child world and one foot in the teen world. This is sometimes very confusing for them. The embracing of the notebooks as a safe place must help their transition.

  3. Oh, they are all wonderful, and unique and clever. You're in for a wild ride this year, Michelle. I love that "pencil playground" and the sketch of you with your curly hair! (I love the stickies too!)

  5. Oh, how I loved reading the notebook entries! So much to love here - the Lamott quote, the sketches, the drawings, the titles they give their notebooks. You have an incredible bunch of writers who are inspired by incredible YOU!
